The women's volleyball team opens their 2024 campaign on the road as they travel to Danville, Virginia for the 30th Annual Cougar Classic hosted by Averett University. Over the course of the two day tournament, the Bruins will face off against four quality NCAA DIII programs.
On Friday afternoon, the Bruins will open their regular season with a 2 p.m. match against Guilford College. Friday's match will mark the third meeting between the Bruins and the Quakers with Guilford College owning the 2-0 record. After falling at home 1-3 in their first meeting last September, the Bruins and Quakers battled to a five set thriller where the Greensboro, North Carolina team overtook the Bruins.
The Bruins will be back on the court at 6 p.m. Friday evening to take on Roanoke College. The Maroons and Bruins aren't strangers as the two programs have met three times at the Cougar Classic with the Bruins coming out ahead each time.
It will be an early Saturday start for the BJU team as the Bruins hit the court against the University of Lynchburg for a 10 a.m. contest. Saturday's match will mark the first meeting in program history for the Bruins and Hornets.
Immediately following the game against the Hornets, the Bruins will regroup to take on against Averett University on their home court. Through their previous three years of competing at the Cougar Classic, the Bruins hold the 2-1 record against Averett University. Last season, the Cougars put up a fight against the Bruins but it wasn't enough as BJU swept Averett 3-0.
