The Bruins are heading home from from Demorest, Georgia with a 3-0 win over Piedmont University. With today's victory, the Bruins are now 8-8 on the season and have improved to 10-1 all-time against the Lions.
"Tonight we came together and played as a team," said Head Coach Vickie Denny. "Several different players stepped up at different times to contribute towards the win."
The Bruins entered today's match on the heels of a 3-0 win at Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday. On the other side of the court, Piedmont University was on the hunt for their first win of the season.Â
It was a tight start to Thursday night's contest before the Bruins eventually pulled ahead to a four point 16-12 lead. The Bruins maintained their lead late in the set as the Lions attempted to stage a late game comeback. But an attack by Elyse Vest secured the set for Bob Jones 25-19.Â

In the second set, the Bruins got off to a hot 7-1 lead. They put attacks on the floor as their lead continued to increase. BJU held control and improved to a 10 point advantage to force a timeout for the Lions. An ace pulled the Bruins ahead 25-13 to take the set two victory.

At the start of the third, Piedmont kept it close with the Bruins in an attempt to stay in the match. Stefanie Burke kicked off a scoring run after a great block. The Bruins continued to control throughout the third set as they pulled ahead. A kill by Hannah Goodwin sealed the deal 25-16.
Up next, the Bruins are back home as they host a tri-match with Warren Wilson and Welch College on Saturday.Â
