Volleyball Team Extends Win Streak with Win Over South Region Opponent

The Bob Jones University women's volleyball team has extended their winning streak to six games with tonight's 3-1 win over NCCAA DII South Region rival Toccoa Falls College. With tonight's win, the Bruins improve to 11-8 overall and 4-0 in conference play this season.

"Props to Toccoa. They brought a good game and have continued to get better this season," said Assistant Coach Victoria Dunwoody. "Our team really came together, and we were able to find our middles more and were able to capitalize on that. We had a great crowd tonight cheering us on to victory."

As today's game got underway from the Davis Field House in Greenville, South Carolina, the two NCCAA programs kept it close. With the score knotted at five points each, the Bruins went on an eight point run to take the 12-5 lead. They continued to hold on to their lead and with the set point on the line, Emily Lewis finished the set with a kill to give the Bruins the 25-17 win.

Similar to set one, the Bruins and Screaming Eagles exchanged points early in set two. Toccoa Falls tallied six straight to overtake Bob Jones 14-10. After mistakes throughout the set, the Bruins looked to make a late comeback scoring four consecutive points to put the Bruins down just 23-21. BJU couldn't come through and the Screaming Eagles finished set two 25-22 to even the match.

The Bruins looked to come back hot in the third set and went on an early 10-2 scoring spree. They continued to soar and wrapped up the third set 25-15 backed by the cheers of the crowd.

Looking to close out the match, the Bruins started the fourth set strong. They held on to their advantage through the remainder of the set and finished with four straight points to wrap up the final set 25-13 to take the 3-1 victory.

Up next, the Bruins will travel to Gallatin, Tennessee for the Welch College Tournament where they will play four games Thursday-Saturday.

"This tournament will be a good test of how we can work together as a team and find different ways to win," said Dunwoody.
