In the second frame, the Pioneers got off to a strong start before the Bruins battled back. In the end, it was the Pioneers who claimed the second set 25-23.
Behind an efficient .286 hitting percentage, BJU claimed the third set 25-21 to stay in the contest. But Spartanburg Methodist answered back in the fourth to close out the match 25-18 and take the 3-1 match win.
"We were hoping to ride the momentum from yesterday's win into today," said Coach Christa Schlichting. "We were able to take a set from them, but we did not play as consistent today. We need to maintain the leads when we have earned them and eliminate errors on our side of the court in order to beat solid teams like SMC."
Three Bruins finished the match with double digit kills with Hannah Goodwin and Lyndsey Cassell leading with 12 followed by Bethany Estell with ten. Hayley Prater recorded a double double with 22 assists and 12 digs.
Up next, the Bruins make their way to Asheville, North Carolina to faced Warren Wilson College on Saturday.
