The Bob Jones University Bruins dropped their Thursday night match to the Pfeiffer University Falcons, falling 3-1 inside the Davis Field House.
It was a strong start by both teams as the two programs exchanged points through most of the opening set. The Bruins pulled ahead to a five point advantage with just two points needed to close out the set. They posted back-to-back points to take the first set 25-18.
After the Bruins got off to an early lead in set two, momentum began to shift. Despite the Bruins battling for each of their points, the Falcons edged out a 25-22 win to even the match.
From there, Pfeiffer took control as the Bruins struggled in sets three four. The Falcons took the last two sets 25-17 and 25-11 to win the match 3-1.
Following the game, Coach Christa Schlichting said, "although we started off strong winning the first set, Pfeiffer made great defensive adjustments, and we struggled to step up to the challenge."
She continued saying, "I liked the way that we battled for every point tonight. We still have a lot to work on as we prepare for post-season play."
With the loss, the Bruins move to 10–14 on the season. The team will look to bounce back as they have a pair of matches on the road this weekend in Cleveland, Georgia.
