The Bob Jones University Bruins volleyball team opened the week in commanding fashion Tuesday evening, sweeping the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles 3-0 inside the Davis Field House.

As today's game got underway, the Screaming Eagles took the first three points before the Bruins answered back to even the score. It was a back-and-forth effort, but the Bruins soon scored 13 straight to take a sizable lead. Two straight aces by Hayley Prater followed by an attack error by Toccoa Falls saw the Bruins take the opening set 25-10.
 
Set two started out with the Bruins serving a 7-0 run. Throughout the set, the Bruins didn't back down and came away with the second set 25-11 win. 
 
Early in the third, the Screaming Eagles looked to keep it close. But Bob Jones soon rallied to score eight straight points to overtake Toccoa Falls. In front of their fans, the Bruins pulled out the sweep with a 25-12 win in the final frame.

 Bethany Estell and Hannah Goodwin each contributed 10 kills in the contest. Goodwin also added six aces to the team's 12. Defensively, Anne Lloyd recorded 15 digs on the night. 

"I'm thankful our team played very good volleyball this evening," said Coach Christa Schlichting. "We got into a good rhythm early, and we were able to keep that against Toccoa Falls."

She continued saying, "it was a joy to have our Bruins Buddies join us for the start of the game, and it was nice to see a lot of fans supporting us tonight. Go Bruins!"

The volleyball team wraps up their regular season at home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. Senior Day contest against Warren Wilson College.
