The Bob Jones University women's basketball team started their 2025-26 campaign out on a high note with an 81-49 win over NCCAA South Region opponent Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, Mississippi.
The Bruins got off to a strong start and didn't let up as they pulled to an early double digit 18-8 lead after the opening 10 minutes of play. In the second frame, the Bruins continued to extend their lead as the teams went into the halftime break with Bob Jones leading the Chargers 39-19.Â
It was a bit of a slow start for the Bruins after the break, but game play soon picked up, and BJU recorded 16 more points in the third quarter to hold on to their 20 point advantage.Â

With 26 points in the final quarter, the Bruins were able to secure their first regular season and region win of the year with a final score of 81-49.Â
Following the game, Head Coach Mike LeViere said, "I am really happy for the team to get this first game and win on the road. Our biggest takeaway was how much better we can play. The standard isn't the scoreboard. The standard is a level of excellence that we hold ourselves, and I was glad and proud that the team recognized the fact that we weren't playing to our potential."
He continued saying, "there are times we get frustrated, and then we have to remember that the majority of our team is freshmen and sophomores. Our decision making will get better, and it needs to! We had several of us that didn't have a good game at all, and yet we were able to win a region game on the road. This team has the potential to be really good. There is a lot of work to do, a they're ready to get back in the gym on Monday and get better!"
Up next, the Bruins are in the Davis Field House for their home opener on Wednesday, November 5 against Covenant College.Â
