Bruins Golf Takes on the Fall Koala Invite

To begin the week, the Bruins golf team competed in the Fall Koala Invite hosted by Columbia College at the Deercroft Golf Club in Wagram, North Carolina.

On Monday, freshman Conner Ingle highlighted the Bruins first round. He started the round with a couple quick birdies and stayed strong the rest of the day. After a couple bogeys, he recovered well with his third birdie of the round followed by six straight pars to end the round at +3. Grant Camfield sprinkled his scorecard with a few birdies, including two straight on holes one and two. He finished his first round at +14. Joining Camfield with the same score was senior Bryce Coursen. While Coursen had no birdies, he kept the damage on difficult holes limited. With consistent pars, he closed at +14. Luke Jett started with a few double-bogeys but played great on the back end of his first round. A birdie in his back-nine gave him a stroke back and finished at +19. To close out the Bruins efforts, Brayden Joyner struggled to get up and down throughout the round and finished day on at +21.

Ingle was back leading the Bruins on day two. While he didn't have a round as strong as his first, he was able to start and end his day with a birdie. He finished the tournament tied for 18th place overall at +9. Camfield improved from his first round by six shots with the highlight of his round coming on the par-5 hole two eagle. He finished the tournament tied for 39th place at +22.  With the help of two birdies, Coursen improved in the second round by four shots. Tied for 45th place, he finished with a score of +24. Jett and Joyner both improved by a few shots and finished very close to each other in 55th and 56th place with scores of +35 and +36. It was an overall much better day for the Bruins, but against a strong field, they finished 10th place as a team.

The Bruins have one more tournament before traveling to Palm Coast, Florida for the NCCAA National Championship. Next week, the Bruins stay fairly local when they compete in the Pioneer Fall Invitational hosted by Spartanburg Methodist College.
