Three Bob Jones University women's basketball players were given All-Region recognition by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) for their work on the court this season.
"I'm super excited for the young ladies who received an award today," said Head Coach Mike LeViere. "These awards are voted on by the other coaches in our region and recognize not just the great talent God has given these young ladies but also points to their hard work and Christian character which is taken into account when voting."
In her freshman season with the Bruins, Keely Price was awarded a spot on All-Region First Team and was named the 2024-25 Freshman of the Year. Price has been a key piece ot the Bruins team this season leading the team with 14.5 points per game and 10.3 rebounds each contest.Â
Junior Anna Layne Wylder was recognized with the All-Region Second Team. This is the second time in her career that she has received this honor. Wylder leads the Bruins with 329 points scored this season. She is also on top of the stats in the country in three-point percentage.Â
Rounding out the awards for the Bruins is Kayley Trump with a spot on the All-Freshman team. Trump had a great start to the season before an injury cut her year short. Through 14 games played this season, she recorded 137 points and totaled 58 rebounds.Â
Also receiving region votes and an honorable mention nod was Jenna Brooks and Caitlyn Dickerson.Â
When speaking of his team, Coach LeViere said, "Keely has had a standout freshman season and leads several national statistical categories and earned First Team All-Region and Freshman of the Year. Anna Layne has continued to improve not just her three point shooting but her rebounding has almost doubled this year. Sometimes Anna Layne's stats are skewed because every team we play focuses on her and has to game plan for her, and yet she is the number one three-point shooter in the nation. Kayley Trump was voted to the All-Freshmen Team even though she went down with an injury during the second semester. Jenna and Caitlyn received votes and were honorable mention All-Region."
He concluded saying, "these end of year awards are a testament to the hard work and skill of these young ladies and every person on our team can take some credit as we challenge each other every day to be better tomorrow, not just on the court but better in our walk with Christ and following Him as we use the skills God has given and we continue to develop to further His kingdom."
The Bruins earned the #3 seed and begin their journey to a NCCAA South Region Championship on Friday night against #2 Toccoa Falls College at 6 p.m. in the Davis Field House.Â
