Bruins Roll to Their Third Sweep in a Row

The Bob Jones University women's volleyball team picked up their third consecutive 3-0 win in a Thursday night contest against NCCAA South Region rival, Toccoa Falls College.

"Toccoa always brings a loud home crowd. Their team pushed in the last set, and we responded well," said Coach Christa Schlichting. "We are thankful for another good team win on the road."

As today's game got underway, the two teams exchanged points early before the Bruins came alive and went on a 13-1 run. Toccoa Falls worked in a point here and there to get back in the set, but the Bruins opened the game with a 25-15 set win.

Bob Jones took a strong 6-1 start to set two. They soon pulled ahead to an 11 point advantage over their region opponents. The Screaming Eagles cut the deficit to just five points near the end, but the Bruins pulled out the win 25-18 and lead the match 2-0.

Set three started out in favor of the Screaming Eagles, but the Bruins were able to work back to take the lead. It wasn't long before Toccoa Falls tied it 8-8 before moving ahead to take a four point lead. After Coach Schlichting called a timeout, the Bruins responded with an eight point streak. They held strong through the final points and finished the 3-0 sweep with a 25-19 set win.

With today's win, the Bruins have improved to 6-8 on the season and 3-2 in conference play.

The volleyball team will have the weekend to rest before they make the short trip up to Spartanburg, South Carolina to face Spartanburg Methodist College on Wednesday.
