Student-Athletes Rally Together in Successful Fundraiser

The Bob Jones University Bruins Athletic Department held its first-ever Hour-A-Thon fundraiser on December 11, 2025. For one hour, student-athletes representing each sport and staff came together for one hour to take part in the department's athletic fundraiser.

Throughout the fundraiser period, the Bruins student-athletes and staff raised nearly $50,000 thanks to the generosity of many friends, family, and fans. Proceeds will go into a fund to assist teams with travel costs, lodging, meals, and other needs as they qualify and travel to nationals each year.

"Going into the room that night, none of us knew quite what to expect," said Acting Athletic Director Denny Scott. "Very few people enjoy fundraising, so some participants were less than enthusiastic about it. However, even though our faith was weak, fundraising is essentially about relationships. The Hour-A-Thon program encouraged us to build this fundraising night on relationships we already had. Every Bruins athlete, coach, and staff member embraced this opportunity to meet the needs of the entire Bruins athletic family through those relationships."

Scott continued saying, "as the hour progressed from uncertainty at the beginning to energy and excitement at the end, it was amazing to see what God was doing to meet our needs through the relationships we already have. This experience exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The fun competition that developed between the different Bruins teams was unexpected, the fellowship of cheering for each other when donations came in was inspiring and motivating, and the total amount of funds raised was mind-boggling. These funds will certainly help to meet the challenging financial needs we had coming into this year. We praise the Lord for His provision as we all sought to do our part in this event, even amid the uncertainty we had from the beginning."
