Asher and Francesca Aurednik model what it is like to have a successful collegiate soccer career while also building a relationship towards marriage. The two Bruins soccer players, who met here at Bob Jones University, got married in 2025 before their final season.
Francesca Aurednik, formerly Peters, joined the Bruins women's soccer team in the fall of 2022 and made an immediate impact with her speed and goal-scoring ability. Throughout her career, she scored 33 goals which puts her fourth most in program history. She is a three-time all-region player, one-time All-American, and this past season, she was named the NCCAA South Region Player of the Year along with the NCCAA DII National Player of the Year. She finished her career winning three straight national championships.
One of Francesca's biggest support systems came early on in her sophomore year when Asher joined the men's Bruins soccer team in 2023. "One day after preseason, I saw her in The Den, and knew I had to go talk to her," he said. Asher, like his wife, was a goal-scorer. In his three seasons, he netted 24 goals, some of which in clutch moments. Asher was an all-region player in all three years of his career and won a national championship in 2024.
With both of them being full-time student-athletes, that may present some challenges, but they both said it was pretty easy. "Being in the same major, we literally had the exact same schedule," Francesca said. "We would go to class, eat lunch, go to class again, and then our practices were always at the same time." They said this scheduling made it much to easier to support each other as well.Â
The 2024 season was a big one for both of them as they each came away as national champions. "Going into the national tournament, I knew [the girls] were going to win," Asher said. "I was confident in our guys and knew we just had to lock in and get the job done. Getting to experience winning a national championship at the same time as my fiancé was special."
Shortly after that season, the couple got married and officially began their life together. While committed to each other, they both stayed committed to their teams as well for their final season as collegiate athletes in the fall of 2025, which was a special one especially for Francesca. "All through our careers, we were playfully competitive with who could score more goals, but this past season, she definitely got more than me," Asher said. Scoring 14 goals in the season, Francesca led the Bruins to their third straight national championship while being named the National Player of the Year. "There is no better way to end," she said.Â
The Auredniks still live in Greenville as Asher is finishing his final semester at Bob Jones University. While in school, they both became licensed real estate agents and now work for the same agency. "We were on the same team all through college, so why change that now?" Francesca said.
