The Bruins were still riding high after an emotional victory on Thursday night. As the team took the field on Saturday afternoon, they knew they would be in for another tough game as they faced the Tennessee Temple Crusaders. If the nerves were there for the Bruins they certainly didn't show as the team came out strong and bombarded the Crusader net with shots in the first half. "We had great energy," said Coach McCormick. "We really came out strong and that set the tempo for the game." The Bruins controlled possession throughout the first half and looked like a team that had been playing together for years. When the horn sounded for halftime, the Bruins onslaught had given them a 4-1 advantage at the break. The Bruins improved from previous games and got the offensive pressure up right from the outset.
As the second half began, the Bruins went to work again putting shot after shot on goal. The defense would keep the Crusaders in check as the Bruins controlled possession throughout the match, allowing them good transition to make offensive runs on the net. As the game wore on, the Bruins continued to find the back of the net as the offense was firing on all cylinders. With the game in hand, the Bruins would ease up on the Crusaders. The final score would see the Bruins come away with a 7-3 win for their second win in a row.
Matt Moore was the man of the match for the Bruins as he led the way with two goals and two assists. Jordan Allen would also net two goals, and Travis Woodham, Stephen Lovelace and David Overly each had a goal in the game.
"It's huge to get a win on the road and build some momentum going forward," said Bruins' captain Jordan Allen. "We really put great pressure on their net and really played well together as a team tonight."
The Bruins passed the ball extremely well and the difference-maker was in the way the Bruins controlled possession of the ball throughout the game. The team is continuing to gel as a unit and with each passing game, the Bruins get that much stronger. The team is now 2-1 on the season and is going to get some rest before their next game on Saturday against Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, GA.
