The Bruins were coming off a tough loss to Greensboro College on Friday night. The team is in the midst of a three-game losing streak after starting off the season 2-0. The Bruins knew they would be in for another tough test as they battled the Bishops.

From the opening tip, the Bruins and Bishops went back and forth trading baskets and the lead in the opening minutes. The two teams were neck and neck in the first half, with the Bruins playing great defense and working the ball around on offense for open looks. Larry Taylor banked home a layup to make the score 14-11 in favor of the Bishops. The Bishops then went on an 8-2 run to stretch their lead.

The Bruins battled back with baskets from Zach Mercado and Larry Taylor to cut the deficit to 38-35 at the half. "We had plenty of open opportunities tonight but our shots were not falling," Coach Ring said. "We battled hard in this game."

In the second half, the Bruins looked to work their way back into the game and take the lead. Every time the Bruins would make a short run, the Bishops would knock down several shots to keep the lead. The Bruins shot 28% in the second half, and struggled to keep the Bishops off the scoreboard.

The Bishops extended their lead behind D.J. Weaver's 19 points as the Bishops held a comfortable lead. As the final buzzer sounded, the Bruins had been handed their fourth straight loss in a 79-65 defeat.

"I am very proud of our effort tonight," Coach Ring said. "This was a tough team we played but we put forth the best team effort we have had all season."

With the loss, the Bruins fall to 2-4 on the season. The Bruins had four players score in double figures. Larry Taylor led the way for the Bruins with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
