Celebrate the first fall home soccer game by coming to the Bruins men's game tomorrow afternoon. Game time is set for 4 p.m. and the Bruins will be taking on the Concordia College Hornets, who are traveling from Alabama.
Â
The Hornets are affiliated with Division 1 in USCAA conference and are known for being a tough team to beat. In 2012, the Hornets went 11-4 and took a 1-1 mark in the 2012 Championship game, their fifth championship game appearance. While they kicked off the regular season with a crushing 8-0 victory over Trinity Baptist College, Concordia has been trying to just adjust to a new head coach this year. But they also have experience on their side, with most of last year's team returning to play this year.
Â
On the other side of the ball, the Bruins currently hold a 3-4 record after a tough loss to Columbia International last Tuesday night. "This will be a very important match for us to come out strong coming off a couple close games we lost," said head coach Jesse McCormick. "They're going to be an athletic team with plenty of skilled players."
Â
Despite Tuesday's loss, McCormick saw some improvements in his team. "Last game we created a number of quality goal scoring opportunities," he said, "and we kept a good focus despite going down in the match."
Â
Interestingly, the Hornets are playing Columbia International College tonight, which means the Bruins should be fresher in tomorrow night's game. And with a strong backfield line and fast offense, the Bruins have shown the talent they possess in past games. "We just have to finish the opportunities we create," McCormick said.Â
