The Bruins entered Saturday's game with a 3-5 record and had lost their last three games. The Bulldogs entered the game with a 1-2 record, and picked up their 1st win of the 2014-15 season on Wednesday night over Toccoa Falls.

The Bruins came out strong from the opening tip and used back to back three's to jump out to an early 8-2 lead. From there, the Bruins woke the sleeping Bulldogs who responded with a 11-0 run to go up 13-8. The Bruins battled hard over the next few minutes and traded baskets with the Bulldogs with neither team able to establish control.

Kyle Turner fueled an 8-2 run by the Bruins to climb back into the game and after a pair of Marshall Riddle free throws, the Bruins took the lead 32-31. "I was really proud of our effort," Kyle Turner said. "We focused on staying positive and kept working hard no matter." Down the stretch, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on the post play of P.J Horgan to take a 41-34 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Bulldogs looked to use their size to their advantage as the team continued to work the ball inside. Quickly, the Citadel was able to capitalize and increase their lead. The Bruins had no choice but to increase their physical play down low which quickly resulted in foul trouble for the team.

Marshall Riddle battled through the lane for the Bruins to try to cut into the lead, but the Bulldogs countered on offense by dominating the paint and getting to the line. After an authoritative dunk by P.J. Horgan, the Bulldogs never looked back and won the game 81-50.

"We need to play not just one good half but two good halves," Coach Ring said. "We did some things well tonight and we'll look to build on that going into next week."

Kyle Turner led the Bruins with 16 points while Marshall Riddle chipped in 15. The team is now 3-6 on the season and will have nearly a week off before playing the last of their NCAA DI opponents. Next up, the Bruins will battle Presbyterian College.
