Team suffers second straight loss on the road

Box Score
Despite getting 19 points from captain Kyle Turner and shooting lights out from behind the arch in the 2nd half, the Bruins suffered their second straight road loss on Saturday night as the team fell to the Milligan College Buffaloes 78-60.

"We played a really good team tonight with a lot of experience at this level," Coach Ring said. "We had a chance to get back into the game several times and just couldn't take advantage of our opportunities."

The Bruins entered Saturday's game with a 1-1 record and were looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Toccoa Falls College on Tuesday night. The Buffaloes came into the game with a perfect 3-0 record. The Bruins knew they would be in for a tough test as they took the court at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

The Buffaloes came out strong and jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead. After some adjustments, the Bruins began to slowly climb their way back into the game. The team struggled to limit the Buffaloes on offense as Milligan extended their lead. The Bruins also struggled in scoring as the team shot just 14% from behind the arch in the first half. The Buffaloes used a 7-0 run late in the half to take a 37-21 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Bruins looked to make a run to get back into the game as Dustin Killough knocked down a three. The Buffaloes responded with three straight possessions yielding points to take a 21 point lead. Refusing to quit, the Bruins came charging back as the team caught fire shooting 50% from the field and 67% from behind the arch. The team also was able to get to the line and shot 11-13 in the second half.

Despite their efforts, the team came up short as the Bruins lost their second straight game 78-60.

"I'm proud of the way our guys finished," Coach Ring said. "Our goal as a team is to be better today than we were yesterday and I felt like we were better today. In the second half we were able to use some things that worked offensively which should give us some confidence moving forward."

With the loss, the team falls to 1-2 on the season. Kyle Turner led the way with 19 points for the Bruins and Dustin Killough added 18. The team only got 6 points from their bench while being outrebounded in the game 45-27.

Next up, the Bruins will be on the road against cross-state rival Columbia International University on Tuesday night.
