The two teams had met four times over the last two seasons, with Warren Wilson owning a 3-1 record vs. BJU. The Owls were coming into the game having lost their last three games with their most recent loss coming on Thursday night to Lees-McCrae College. The Bruins have struggled in recent weeks and were desperate for a win as they took the court.

The hot-shooting Owls came out strong in the opening minutes with three straight three-point shots to open up a 9-4 advantage. The Bruins battled back behind Kyle Turner's shooting as the team worked back to draw even at 17-17. From there, the Owls used a 10-4 run late in the half to close out strong and take a 34-28 lead into the locker room.

"We have to be better defensively," Coach Ring said. "We weren't able to handle our matchups and we were relying on help defense. We also just needed to knock down our shots. We were getting wide open looks and missing."

In the second half, the Bruins looked to climb back into the game as Marshall Riddle scored five points out of the gate to bring the Bruins within one 34-33. The two teams would tie at 37-37 before the Owls used a 13-2 run to climb ahead of the Bruins. Warren Wilson College never looked back as Ty Johnson and Justin Gonyea combined for 27 second half points. The Bruins were down by as much as much as 20 points throughout the remainder of the half as the team shot just 20% from three-point range. The final buzzer handed the Bruins their 7th straight loss in a 77-61 defeat on the road.

"We've still been plagued with inconsistency," Coach Ring said. "We're still not there but it is a long season and we have a lot of learning and growing to do. We'll have another tough test Thursday and we have to be ready for it."

Marshall Riddle led the Bruins with 16 points and 7 rebounds while Kyle Turner scored 15 and had 9 rebounds. Corey Turner was the only other Bruin in double figures with 10 points. The team shot just 35% from the floor and committed 15 turnovers. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 3-9 on the season. Their next game will be another tough road test as the team faces North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina on Thursday night.
