Box Score
Despite making a late run in the 2nd half, the Bruins couldn't slow down the Wildcats as Johnson and Wales University handed BJU their 3rd loss in the last four games. The Bruins fell 85-76 on Tuesday night in Charlotte, North Carolina. "I love my guys but honestly we were very soft on defense in the first half," Coach Ring said. "We showed some guts in the second half and clawed our way to within 5 late."

The Bruins came into the game with a 14-11 record after suffering a tough home los to Life University on Saturday. The Bruins and Wildcats met earlier this season in Greenville with JWU narrowly escaping with a 71-68 victory. The stage was set as the Wildcats and Bruins were ready to take the floor for an exciting game.

Ray Holden knocked down back-to-back threes for the Bruins to open up the game and put the Bruins on top. The Wildcats slowly got into a rhythm and worked their way back into the game to take the lead. The Bruins responded by working their way into the lane and getting opportunities from the line. The Wildcats were able to push the tempo and used their ball movement to break through the Bruins defense for points.

With just over 7 minutes remaining, Dustin Killough's three point shot tied the game at 29-29. From there, the Wildcats went on a 17-2 run to extend their lead and take a 50-36 into the break.

In the second half, the Bruins came out looking to overcome the deficit and hoped their halftime adjustments could help them get back into the game. Marshall Riddle knocked down back-to-back three point shots as the Bruins started the half hot. The Wildcats responded by continuing to take advantage of their opportunities on offense to keep the lead. At the midway point of the half, the Wildcats had built a double-digit advantage.

With under ten minutes to play, the Bruins came out of a timeout and began to work the ball around for open shots. With each basket, the Bruins began to climb closer and closer to getting back into the game. Marshall Riddle knocked down a three point shot with just over 4 minutes to play to cut the lead to 70-65. Down the stretch, the Bruins made costly mistakes on offense and the Wildcats took advantage by stretching the lead. As the final buzzer sounded, the Bruins had dropped a tough road game with a 85-76 loss to JWU.

"We continue to beat ourselves with turnovers and settling for okay shots instead of working for great ones," Coach Neal Ring said. "When we decide to play tough for 40 minutes we will find ourselves in the winners circle once again."

Dustin Killough and Marshall Riddle each scored 16 on the night for the team while Justin Matthews and Ray Holden each had 13. The Bruins allowed 46 points in the paint and the team committed 20 turnovers on the night. With the loss, the team falls to 14-12 on the season. Next up, the Bruins will travel to Pensacola Christian College on Saturday night.
