The Bruins were clicking on all cylinders offensively on Saturday afternoon as the team scored over 100 points for the second consecutive game. Despite the final score, it did take a little while for the Bruins to find their groove. Halfway through the first half it was a back-and-forth contest between the Bruins and Knights as BJU held a 22-20 lead at the 12:00 minute mark. Then the Bruins were able to break it open with a 35-15 scoring run to finish the first half fueled in part by hot-shooting from the outside by Dustin Killough and Justin Matthews. The team went into the half up 57-35.
"We brought the juice after the media timeout halfway through the 1st half," Coach Wingreen said. "We executed our game plan offensively and it was fun to watch."
In the second half, the Bruins came out on fire again as Marshall Riddle led the three-point barrage from the outside scoring 18 of his 20 points in the second half. The team also got great play in the post from Quez Fisher as the sophomore forward slammed back to back dunks to keep the energy high. With the game all but in hand, the Bruins continued to pour it on as they coasted to a 115-88 win.
Nate Ellenwood set another program first on the night as the freshman point guard finished with a triple double totaling 12 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. It was the first triple double in the history of the program. Dustin Killough finished with 22 points on the night while Marshall Riddle scored 20, Corey Turner with 18 and Justin Matthews finishing with 16 on the night. The Bruins won the rebounding margin 46-33 while grabbing 15 offensive rebounds.
The Bruins will be back in action on Tuesday as they will travel to Asheville, North Carolina to take on Warren Wilson College. "Warren Wilson is a great team," Coach Wingreen said. "We will have to bring our A-game if we want to extend our winning streak."
The Bruins haven't lost a game since January 9 and are 9-2 in their last eleven games.
