The men's track & field team saw four school records broken as the team competed at the CIU Rams Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina.
"It was a great race for us this weekend," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "We ran very competitively across all our contested events and established a solid race experience that we need for upcoming meets."
Highlights from this weekend include Douglas Stone setting the new all-time school record in the 5k with a time of 15:44.89. Stone broke his own record with his previous top time coming at 15:48 during the 2021 season. The finish by Stone also qualifies him to compete in the NCCAA national championships at the end of the season.
Marc Johnson and Seth Cordes also competed in the 5k race and were able to come away with personal bests.
In a competitive 200 meter field, Luke Fressel posted an unofficial time of 21.6 to break the school record set by him at the start of this season.
The men's relay teams saw success on the track as the 4x100 A team finished with a time of 45.05, five seconds faster than the first meet of the season and the fastest in school history.
The 4x400 relay race would close out the CIU Rams Invitational. Bob Jones would finish fourth out of eight teams with an unofficial time of 3:31.99 breaking a five-year school record.
"Overall the team finished ahead of good schools for a high team placement and that is our target this season," said Coach Roach. "We are trying to shift the focus to team scoring and with the addition of sprints and throws we can establish ourself as a team much better."
Next up for the Bruins is the Montreat Classic in North Carolina on March 25-26 where the team will look to build on the success from this weekend.
