Samuel Ashley of the Bob Jones University men's track & field team competed at the Tornado Classic hosted by Brevard College. The senior represented the Bruins in the javelin throw event.
As Friday's meet got underway in Brevard, North Carolina, Ashley was one of 12 competitors in the javelin. In his first attempt, Ashley threw a distance of 30.79 meters. A great throw in his attempt saw him improve to 34.68 meters to set a new personal best. His third throw was just under 28 meters to close out the meet and put him in tenth place across a field of strong competitors.

"We had a great meet to focus on our throwing events," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "Samuel hit a personal best on an excellent second attempt. His dedication to the team and his growth in this sport is fun to watch as a coach."
Following the meet, Ashley shared, "today was a chance to get in more competition reps. The focus was to enjoy the meet and throw relaxed. I got great feedback from Coach Roach that will help me go into hte back half of the season strong. I'm thankful for the opportunity to compete and represent Bob Jones."
Up next, the Bruins track & field teams will make the trip to Asheville, North Carolina for a two-day meet at the Asheville Bulldog Invite on April 10-11.
