A Bruin National Champion: Will Stark Caps off Incredible Season on Top

Will Stark capped off a remarkable breakout season in unforgettable fashion, blazing to a winning time of 48.48 seconds and being crowned National Champion.

Head Coach Ken Roach kept his statement short: "Seeded 2nd. Won by 0.01. National Champion. This is what a champ looks like."

Stark has lead the Bruins with top-tier performances all season long, even dating back to the indoor season. He delivered a history-making performance at the indoor championships becoming the first indoor All-American in program history, and even yet, he raised the bar even higher today. He came in to the race seeded second overall with his eyes on the top seed. He knew if he raced with the right strategy, he could come out on top.

The starting gun sounded and Will jumped out in front and stayed there going into the final 200 meters. Rounding the final curve, three other runners came nearly even with Stark, and it was a very close race to the end. One final push from Stark put him in first at the finish line by a one-hundredth of a second. Will Stark is a national champion in the men's 400 meter dash.
