Will Stark Becomes First Indoor Track & Field All-American in Bruins History

Bruins Track & Field delivered an impressive performance at the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, highlighted by Will Stark making program history as the first indoor All-American in Bruins history.

"We refused to settle at this meet," Head Coach Ken Roach said. "We came here with a desire to compete and win."

All the action began Friday night with a couple sprinting events and the distance medley relay. Dillon Koop was the Bruins representative in the men's 60 meter hurdle and had a strong performance. Leo Mota and Will Stark competed in the 60 meter dash amongst a stacked lineup of sprinters. Finally, the men's distance medley relay (DMR) team had quite the performance and scored points with their performance. Jacob Doshier began the relay with a great split of 3:18. "Jacob was the one who carried the time, and Misha did well to follow him up," Coach Roach said.

To begin the Bruins events on Saturday, Judah Nash hit the track for the men's mile. With a great performance and personal best, he landed just outside the top 10. Melody Davis came next to be the first woman to compete for the Bruins at the championships in the women's 400 meter dash. The story of the day followed when Misha Gray and Will Stark raced in the men's 400 meter dash. Going into the meet this weekend, Stark had his eye on an All-American finish, and he got it. With his performance, he finished in 2nd place and became the first indoor track and field All-American in Bruins history.

To end the efforts in the nationals meet, Emily Walton and Joel Batres-Mena competed in the women's 800 meter race and men's 800 meter race. Jacob Doshier represented the Bruins in the men's 3k and showed great effort. Last up for the Bruins was the men's 4x400 meter relay team placing 10th.

After the meet, Coach Roach credited his team for representing Bruin Nation well. "This group has put in the work and has the talent to chase excellence, and God gave us the platform to display strength without retreat," he said. "They represented Bruins heart at the highest level any BJU indoor team has reached, full of determined focus and a reliance on Christ."

History was made for the Bruins to cap off their indoor season, and they now look forward to beginning outdoor season when they go to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to compete in the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on March 13-14.
