The records keep coming as the Bruins continue to see strong performances this season. On Friday and Saturday, the men's track & field team competed in the Gotta Run Invite hosted by Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina in a strong field of NCAA and NAIA schools.
"We continue to improve and race well," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "Each week we are gaining more confidence in our racing events and continue to hit individual PRs every week. The team is doing a great job of maintaining our strength and finishing each event strong which continues to be the most promising aspect of this season for me at this point."
Douglas Stone continues to break school records for the Bruins as he hit a big personal record this weekend in the 3000 meter race. Finishing fourth overall, Stone crossed the line in 9:04.39 breaking the previous school 3k record by six seconds.
On the Friday field events, David Green led the Bruins with a distance of 33.62 meters in the javelin, 29.06 meters in the discus with teammate Gabriel Steurer behind at 22.49 meters.
Back on the track, Andrew Sarver finished the 800 meter race with a time of 2:09.67.
After Sol Shafer's finish in the 1500 meter race, he became one of the top-five finishers in the program history with a time of 4:16.01.
Michael Steurer narrowly missed out on a national qualifying time of 51.65 in the 400 meter race after crossing the line 11th overall at 51.90.
The Bruins closed out the meet with the 4 x 400 meter relay where the "A" team ran a 3:46.93 race finishing right behind Piedmont University.

Next up, the Bruins will travel to Hickory, North Carolina April 8-9 to compete in the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Invite where they look for more records and national qualifying standards.
