Men's Track & Field Team Continues to Improve with More Personal Bests at Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Invitational

The men's track & field team saw more school and personal records this weekend as they competed at the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Invitational.

"The team did very well and once again improved with faster times as we continue to finish our races out strong," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "Finishing fifth overall was great for us. We continue to dig a little deeper each week."

Getting the personal records started on the track was Marc Johnson in the 5k as he posted a Bruins top-ten of 17.21.21.

The Bruins "A" team of Nathaniel Crowley, Michael Steurer, Isaac VeraCruz, Luke Fressel saw a solid performance in the 4 x 100 finishing with a time of 45.89.

The 1500 meter race brought out several personal records for the men's team as Douglas Stone (4:12.52)  crossed the line fourth overall with teammate Sol Shafer close behind in 6th place with a time of 4:14.27. Ryan Heying and Seth Cordes also saw personal bests in this event.

Finding another school record, Luke Fressel finished fourth overall to beat his own personal best in the 100 meter dash to set a new Bruins record with a time of 11:39. Nathaniel Crowley (12.05) and Isaac Vera Cruz (12.25) also finished with solid performances with Vera Cruz gaining a personal record.

It was a quick 800 meter race for Michael Steurer as he produced his top time of the 2022 season coming in fourth out of 22 runners.

The men's track & field team finished fifth overall this weekend. Full meet results can be found here.

"Our accomplishments are for God's glory, and we just want to shine a light toward his presence," said Coach Roach.

The track & field teams will be back in the Upstate next weekend as they make their way to Anderson University for the Electric City Invite on Saturday.
