The men's track & field team pushed through a late night and rainy conditions to wrap up their final meet of the 2022 regular season in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
"Coming off of exam week, we really needed to compete in a meet before heading to nationals next week," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "The track surface at Montreat College is very similar to what we will race on in Greenville, Illinois, so it was a great gauge for us, but the team's effort was the biggest gauge as we didn't want to be mentally flat coming off of a week of exams."
It was a strong race for Sol Shafer in the 5000 meter race. He finished fourth overall with a time of 15:45.96, a 15 second personal best and just a second off of setting a new school record. Also competing in the 5k race was teammate Marc Johnson.
Andrew Sarver also came away with a personal record in the 800 meter beating his previous PR by 0.73 seconds.
In both the 100 meter and 200 meter races, Luke Fressel finished first for the Bruins followed by teammates Nathaniel Crowley and Isaac VeraCruz. Jeremiah Cox was the lone Bruin competing in the 1500 meter race on Friday.
The team put together a 4x100 meter relay team where they raced to a top-three program performance with a time of 45.92.
