Starting the year with a 2-1 record and looking to keep up the momentum, the Bob Jones University baseball team makes their way to Lookout Mountain, Georgia to face Covenant College Saturday afternoon.
The baseball team opened its third season on the road at Mid-Atlantic Christian University last Thursday and Friday with their best start in program history.
After a 2-6 loss on night one to Mid-Atlantic Christian University, the team came out swinging on Friday and swept the doubleheader. In game one, the Bruins saw a strong start scoring nine runs in the first inning. They went on to win the contest 16-7. The Bruins and Mustangs were then back on the field for game two of their doubleheader. BJU got on the board first with a run in the second inning. They held on to the lead until MACU scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead. It was an exciting end to the game as the Bruins produced two runs in the seventh inning to finish the day with a 3-2 win.
Saturday's game marks the first game of the season for the Scots. Last year, BJU and Covenant met five times through March and April with the Scots holding the 4-1 series record.
First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the baseball fields at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
