After the most successful season in program history, three Bruins baseball players have been given NCCAA DII South All-Region recognition. Freshman standout Henry Rumble was named to the First Team while seniors Evan Johnson and Tillman Padgett were named to the Second Team.
"I'm incredibly proud of the three guys that were named to All-Region," Head Coach Kyle Morrison said. "Henry Rumble had, in my opinion, the best year in the NCCAA South Region and was a huge part of our offensive production. Evan Johnson was spectacular offensively and defensively. If we accounted for defensive stats in the all-region voting, I think he would've received first team. Tillman Padgett set a program record in wins this year and was our number one all year long."
Henry Rumble is the first player since Daniel Barcena in 2022 that has been named to the All-Region First Team after having arguably the best single season in Bruins baseball history. As a freshman, Rumble led the team in nearly every offensive category. He ended the season with a .434 batting average and .538 on-base percentage. He hit nine home runs this season highlighted by his three home run performance in the first game of the region tournament. He had 51 runs batted in on 59 hits. He was also a threat on the bases with 15 stolen bases on the season.
Evan Johnson solidified himself as one of the best all-around players in the region this season with unbelievable plays on the offensive and defensive sides. From the plate, he had a .383 batting average with 54 hits and 27 runs batted in. He was a consistent bat that would often spark momentum in must-score innings. On the defensive side, Johnson was nothing short of special. Playing the hot corner at third base is considered the most difficult in college baseball and he made it look easy. He led the team with 55 assists and got many key outs for the Bruins this season.
Tillman Padgett was the Bruins ace on the mound all season long, and he was consistently a threat to any offense he faced. He ended the season with a 4.44 earned run average (ERA) in 75 innings pitched in 14 appearances. He led the pitching staff with five wins and three complete games. His last two starts both resulted in complete game wins against Paine College and Southeastern Baptist College (SBC). That win against the SBC Chargers was in the first game of the region tournament where he only allowed two runs on three hits while striking out five batters.
Three All-Region players marks the most the Bruins have had in a single season in program history.
