The men's and women's indoor track and field teams had their first meet of the semester today in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The Bruins participated in 14 events against schools such as App State, Duke, North Greenville University, Columbia International University, and Guilford College.
The women's team competed in six different events, including the 60 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 600 meter, and the one mile. Getting things started for the Bruins, Mia Marks lined up for the 60 meter qualifier and finished with a 9.03. Three more Bruins lined up for the 200 meter race. Freshman runners Melody Davis, Alexa Marks, and Vivian Pikett all ran with Davis finishing with a 29.71, Marks with a 31.43, and Pikett with a 33.47.
Another freshman runner lined up for the Bruins in the women's 400 meter race. Kathryn Amato finished with a time of 1:12.90 as the sole competitor for the Bruins. In the 600 meter race, Ainsley Zimmerman and Kristen Dodds both had strong performances. Zimmerman ran a 2:02:88 while Kristen Dodds ran a 2:06.06. In one final event for the women's team, two Bruins took the track to compete in the 1 mile. Sophomore runner, Lauren Jones finished her mile with a time of 6:25.67 and freshman runner Cora Gagne finished hers at 6:32.33.
For the men's team, they ran in eight different events as well as the Garian brother throwing in the shot put event. Their events included the 60 meter, 200 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 600 meter, one mile, and the 3000 meter.
The Bruins started things off with three runners in the 60 meter qualifier. Luke Fressel ran a 7.27, followed by Leonardo Mota with a 7.48 and Misha Gray with a 7.51. Following the 60 meter, Gray and Mota would compete alongside fellow Bruin Kyle Williams in the 200 meter. Misha Gray crossed the finished line with a time of 24.54 while Leonardo Mota had a time of 25.00 even and Williams finished with a 26.50.
In the 200 meter seeded, Luke Fressel was the lone Bruins to partake in the race as he crossed the finish with a time of 24.05. In the 400 meter race, freshman teammates Colson Boutchia and Justin VanDen Berghe competed for the Bruins. Colson finished the race with a time of 1:00.18 followed by teammate Justin finishing in 1:04.01.
Moving to the 600 meter, Andrew Sarver took the track for the Bruins and finished with a time of 1:32.49. In the 800 meter, Joel Bagtres-Mena ran a 2:08.36 as the sole runner for the Bruins. Three Bruins ran the one mile with senior Sol Shafer leading the way running a 4:45.96. He was followed by Levi Gerbitz running a 5:05.98 and Daniel Kyle who finished with a 5:11.30.
Junior runner, Marc Johnson ran for the Bruins in the 3000 meter and finished with a time of 9:55.30. Finally, in the shot put event, brothers Daniel and Joshua Garian competed for the Bruins. Daniel put up a 10.69 meter throw while Joshua threw for 8.90 meters.

Up next, the teams are set to be back on the track the first of February at the JDL Thursday College Classic held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
