The Bruins fought hard against the DI opponent Winthrop University Eagles, but fell 103-55.
"With us finishing with 2 exhibitions, we're looking at this as a second preseason preparing for region play," Assistant Coach Dr. Tony Miller said. "Some guys that don't usually play got some minutes, and all of us got to see what we need to improve on. That's why we schedule the D1 and D2 games."
Altogether, the Bruins played good in the first half forcing Winthrop to turn it over 9 times. The Bruins were able to stick around against the Eagles for the first 10 minutes or so due to the shooting by Trevor Brunson who had eight first half points. The size of the Eagles and their rebounding is what helped them run away with it.
The second half was challenging for the Bruins but provided a lot of learning opportunities. The Bruins forced 10 turnovers which helped them win the game's turnover battle which is huge against a DI opponent. Brunson's offense continued to shine scoring 13 in the half and ending with a game-leading 21 on the night.
Shad Vander Hart, Trevor Pittman, and Justin Skelton all followed with seven points each.
The Bruins have one more exhibition against Anderson University next Thursday, December 19 before they head into Christmas Break.
