Tournament Info
The Bob Jones University men's basketball team is back at the NCCAA National Tournament for the first time since the 2021-22 season. After winning their fourth NCCAA DII South Region Championship, the Bruins have earned the #2 seed for the tournament.
It's been a standout season for the men's basketball team. They enter the National Tournament with a 19-4 season record, their best winning percentage in program history. They defended the Davis Field House well with an undefeated 13-0 record on their home court. Following the South Region tournament, the Bruins improved to 10-1 in conference play.
The NCCAA DII National Tournament begins Thursday afternoon at North Central University. Seeding for the tournament is as follows:
- #1 - Crown College
- #2 - Bob Jones University
- #3 - North Central University
- #4 - Spurgeon College
- #5 - Arlington Baptist University
- #6 - Grace Christian University
- #7 - Campbellsville University Harrodsburg
- #8 - Kansas Christian College
Bob Jones University will open their time in Minnesota on Thursday at 6 p.m. against #7 Campbellsville University Harrodsburg. The Bruins and Pioneers have met three times in program history with Campbellsville narrowly beating the Bruins in each of the contests. The two programs last met in Kentucky in December 2021 and despite four players scoring in double figures and the Bruins shooting over 50%, the Pioneers outlasted BJU to take the game.
Looking to advance in the tournament, the Bruins would take on either #3 North Central University or #6 Grace Christian University on Friday at 8 p.m. in the semifinals should they beat Campbellsville on Thursday.
The title game is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday with the winners of the semifinals going head to head.
When speaking of their time at the tournament, Head Coach Burton Uwarow said, "I am hopeful we can continue to play our brand of disruptive defense. We need to play hard and play aggressively from the start. These are not the kind of games to "ease" into. There is not much difference between the teams at the tournament. Every team has the potential to win and every team has the potential to get beat. There is such a small margin for error at this time of year. We can't beat ourselves this week by making unwise decisions or taking foolish shots."
