The Bruins are hosting just their second home series of the season against the Covenant College Scots this Saturday. Saturday is set to start at 1:00 p.m. with game one of the doubleheader. Covenant College holds the all time record over the Bruins leading 5-1.
The Scots come to town with a 5-10 record after dropping a close game to Oglethorpe University 4-3. Covenant College is dual affiliated with the NCCAA and NCAA DIII levels, but competes in the Collegiate Conference of the South. This season, they hold wins over Alma College, North Park University, Messiah University, Birmingham-Southern University, and Mississippi University for Women.
The Bruins and Covenant College Scots have met six times over the last few seasons. Covenant holds a 5-1 record over the Bruins and are holding a four-game winning streak. The last time these two programs met, the Scots high powered offense crushed the Bruins 16-2. The Bruins will look to even up the all-time series with them this weekend.
The Bruins are 2-12 so far this season and are ready to get back home after several weeks of away games. Last weekend, the Bruins played a doubleheader against Paine College and split 1-1 with Paine taking game one and the Bruins winning game two. Their third game of the series was washed out, but they were back at it the following Monday against Montreat College. Their game against Montreat was a bit of a struggle offensively, but were able to hold them to 11 hits through the single nine-inning game. Unfortunately, the Bruins lost to the Cavaliers 8-2.
The Bruins and Scots will face off against one another this Saturday for a doubleheader of two seven-inning games at 1:00 p.m. The doubleheader will be played at North Cobb Chistian School in Kennesaw, Georgia.
