Bailey of Track & Field Named NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has named Bob Jones University Bruins women's track & field athlete, Grace Bailey, as the National Student-Athlete of the Week.

On Friday at the Gotta Run Invite hosted by Southern Wesleyan University, Bailey set a new school record in the javelin as she threw a NCCAA national qualifying distance of 28.80 meters. Her record breaking performance saw her finish sixth overall out of 25 competitors.

The sophomore out of Lexington, South Carolina continues to improve as she now ranks 16th overall in the NCCAA in javelin.

"Grace has worked really hard this season," said Head Coach Ken Roach. "She continues to progress and has hit some great throws this season already. Her already hitting a PR and national qualifying mark this early can really set the stage with confidence. She will have a great season, and I am very proud of her accomplishments. She deserves this recognition."

The Student-Athlete of the Week award is chosen by the NCCAA and recognizes the play of student-athletes in their respective sport. This is the track & field team's first NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week honor this season and the first for Bailey in her time with the Bruins.

BJU is NCCAA DII member featuring 13 varsity programs and nearly 200 student-athletes.
