The Bruins are set to face a familiar foe this weekend in rival Toccoa Falls College. This will be the third time this season the two teams will clash on the diamond. The Screaming Eagles hold a slight edge with a 3-2 record over the baseball team this season, but the Bruins will have a chance to even up the series with three games this Friday and Saturday. Game one of the series is scheduled to be played at Conestee Park with the first pitch at 6:00 p.m. The two programs will finish the series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
Since the last time these two programs met, the Screaming Eagles have added a 3-2 record to their season with wins over Point University and Carolina University while losing a game to Carolina University and Columbia International University. Heading into the weekend, the Screaming Eagle hold a 19-14 record.
The Bruins had a challenging schedule since they last played against Toccoa Falls. During a game against Truett McConnell University, the Bruins had an 8-2 lead going into the eighth inning, but a late rally by the bears couldn't be overcome and Bruins lost 11-8. Following the loss to TMU, the Bruins played a series against Paine College where they once again had a lead late, but couldn't hold on to win as they lost 12-10 in extra innings. The highlight of the series happened in game two when Joshua Legnard threw a complete game holding the Lions to one run as the Bruins scored six of their own. To cap off the series, the Bruins played another tough game, but the Lion's bats were too much and the Bruins lost 9-5. The Bruins will head into the weekend with a 6-19 record.
The series between BJU and TFC is scheduled for Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m. Come out to Conestee Park to support the Bruins or watch them live on YouTube
