After opening their season on the road, the Bruins volleyball team is back in Greenville for their home opener on Tuesday against Spartanburg Methodist College.
The Bruins enter the new week on the hunt for their first win of the season after going 0-4 on Friday and Saturday at the Cougar Classic. Over the course of the two day tournament, the Bruins faced four solid NCAA DIII programs where three of their matches went to five sets.
Following the weekend, Head Coach Vickie Denny said, "we are so young with many new players that are learning the difference of the pace in college volleyball. With limited days of preseason this year, unfortunately we are having to learn while we are already playing regular season matches."
The SMC Pioneers make the trip down I-85 with a 5-9 season record. They spent the weekend at the Columbia International Invitational where they went 0-4 on the weekend.
Tuesday night's contest will mark the seventh meeting between the two Upstate programs with Bob Jones holding the 4-2 series record. The Bruins and Pioneers last met in 2018 where the Bruins finished on top in both games.
