National Preview: The Bruins Compete at Cedarville

The Bruins track & field team will be traveling up to Ohio and competing at the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Cedarville University February 7-8.

"This team is ready to compete at nationals," Head Coach Ken Roach said. "Our theme the last two weeks has been obtaining a competitive mindset and I expect that to translate into everyone's performance. We have great athletes representing Bob Jones University at this event and every step we take will shine with school pride."

The fun starts Friday, February 7 as the Bruins have several relay teams competing along with an individual, Robert Ulsh racing in the 60 meter hurdle preliminaries. The Bruins are competing in the men's distance medley relay race consisting of Trenton Goldsmith running the 1200 meters, Misha Gray in the 400 meters, Joel Batres-Mena running the 800m, and Evan Seaman closing it out in the mile.

Later in the evening, both the men and women will be competing in the 4x200 meter relay race. The women's team consists of Briana Felter, Gracie Roland, Bethany Grachus, and Melody Davis. The men's 4x200m team has Robert Ulsh, Kyle Williams, Jeremiah Medrano, and Michael Leonard.

The Bruins have several more individuals competing on Saturday, February 8. Daniel Garian starts the day for the Bruins as he will be competing in the men's shot put. Trenton Goldsmith, Evan Seaman, and Kyle Williams are all back on the track competing in individual races with short rest from Friday's relays. Goldsmith will be competing in the men's mile along with teammate Daniel Kyle. Williams will be racing in the men's 200m sprint followed by Seaman racing in the 3k.

The women's and men's 4x400m relay will close out the day and overall competitions for the Bruins at the championships. Each team also has a few repeat competitors from the day before. Grachus, Roland, and Davis are competing again this time with Emily Walton joining them and Liz Farley serving as an alternate. Gray, Medrano, Batres-Mena, and Leonard make up the men's 4x400m relay team.

"Our relay teams and individuals will be tested this weekend," Coach Roach said. "I trust we will leave everything out on the track and demonstrate our hard work together is not easily broken."
