Bruins Athletic Department Announces Staff Updates

The Bob Jones University Bruins Athletic Department has announced several staff updates heading into the 2025-26 school year.

Denny Scott has stepped into the role of Acting Athletic Director. With a strong background in athletics and a deep commitment to the mission of BJU, Scott brings valuable experience and leadership to this position. In addition to his role as Athletic Director, he serves as the Head Coach of the Bruins golf team and is a professor in the Division of Exercise & Sport Science.

"One of my main goals as the acting athletic director is to coach coaches," said Scott. "It's been said that a good coach can make a difference in a game, but a great coach can make a difference in a life. That's our goal in the Bruins Athletic Department, that we have a coaching staff that makes a difference in a life."

He continued saying, "I'm thankful for this opportunity and am privileged to lead the Bruins program at this time. I hope that you will join us as we pursue this journey of taking valuable lives on a journey to accomplish the will of God in their lives."

Supporting the department's efforts, Mike LeViere has been named Associate Athletic Director. In addition to his responsibilities as head women's basketball coach, LeViere will assist with operations and administrative leadership and the continued development of Bruins Athletics.

On the sidelines, Dr. Tony Miller has been appointed Head Men's Basketball Coach. Miller has been a key part of the basketball program since its inception in 2012 and now steps into the lead role to continue building a culture of excellence both on and off the court. In addition to coaching the men's basketball team, Miller also teaches in the Exercise & Sports Science department at BJU.

In volleyball, Christa Schlichting stepped in to serve as Head Volleyball Coach. Schlichting joined the Bruins as an assistant coach in 2018 and since then has helped guide the team to six NCCAA national championship titles. She also serves as the Senior Woman Leader and Compliance Coordinator for the BJU Athletics Department.

In the front office, three former graduate assistants have taken full time roles with the Bruins. Shelbie Wix will serve as the Office Manager, John Baron has been named the Bruins Operations Coordinator, and Trenton Goldsmith will assist as Bruins Athletics Communications.

These updates reflect the department's commitment to strong leadership and a continued focus on developing student-athletes to excel in competition and in life.
