Before the Bruins track & field teams leave for spring break, they hit the track at the 49ers Classic this weekend, hosted by UNC Charlotte.
"This was a high-quality meet for the team this week," Head Coach Ken Roach said. "We really needed to have a good bounce in our strides, but we ran a little flat. Our performances were solid but needed to be elevated this weekend. Now we need to press forward and prepare for our next event."
The sprints began Friday's full slate of events, and the Bruins raced hard despite some windy conditions. Melody Davis started the day in the women's 100 meter hurdles followed by Bri Felter in the women's 100 meter dash. Misha Gray, Leo Mota, and Kyle Williams all competed in the men's 100 meter dash.
- Women's 100 Meter Hurdles: Melody Davis - 19.79 seconds
- Women's 100 Meter Dash: Bri Felter - 13.7 seconds
- Men's 100 Meter Dash: Misha Gray - 11.11 seconds | Leo Mota - 11.18 seconds | Kyle Williams - 11.53 seconds
The men's and women's 400 meter dash came next, and the Bruins had several athletes in both events. Emily Walton, Melody Davis, Liz Farley, and Kate Amato all lined up for the Bruins in the women's race, and Jeremiah Medrano, Joel Batres-Mena, and Kyle Williams followed in the men's race. While they were busy on the track, Sam Ashley was in the infield competing in the men's javelin throw.

After the midday break of events, Jacob Doshier hit the track as the evening settled in for the men's 3k steeplechase. This was Doshier's first time dealing with the hurdles and the water pit, and he showed a strong effort. Samantha Jones followed with a big personal best in the women's 1500 meter run, and Judah Nash followed in the men's 1500 meter.

The Bruins distance crew capped off the long day in the 5k. Lauren Jones represented the women's team, and James Baer and Daniel Kyle represented the men's squad. All three had good times under the lights.
- Women's 5k: Lauren Jones - 20:49
- Men's 5k: James Baer - 16:58 | Daniel Kyle - 17:42
Since several athletes from the team had to catch early morning flights for a missions trip to El Salvador, the Saturday slate of events for the Bruins was small.
The day started with Abigail Woo in the women's javelin throw where she set a personal best. Three girls who ran the 400 meter dash on Friday were back on track for the women's 800 meter race, and Judah Nash competed in the men's race.
