It was a tough day for the Bruins as they could not come away with a win in either game against the Morris College Hornets losing 11-10 and 9-6.
Game one started promising as the Bruins offense exploded for seven runs in the top of the first inning, but the Hornets answered back in the bottom of the second inning with six runs of their own. Noah Ezell made his first start on the mound today and pitched one and a third innings allowing six runs. Jason Quillin came in to pitch relief for him and allowed five runs but only one earned. The Bruins found themselves down 11-8 in the top of the sixth inning with a comeback in reach. Jacob Highsmith hit a two-run home run to bring the Bruins back within a run, but that's all they could get and they lost a close 11-10 game.
Mannix Crawford had three RBIs to lead the team, and Jacob Highsmith and Cayden Kennedy both had two.
Game two mirrored game one in the way that the Bruins bats showed up early in the game and provided a lead, but they just couldn't close the game out with a win. They had a 6-3 lead with only six outs to get for the win. It all went awry in the sixth inning, though, when the Hornets put six runs on the board to take a 9-6 lead. The Bruins couldn't answer back in their last at-bat and fall 9-6.
The Bruins and Hornets close their series tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in Sumter, South Carolina.Â
