From the opening tip, the Bruins fed off of the energy provided by the crowd and stayed neck-and-neck with the Lions. The Bruins got several good looks as Bre Bullard and Trisha Irving led the offensive attack. The Lions responded with physical play namely from the play of Kaylyn Young who finished with 21 points on the night. Soon the Bruins found themselves down by double-digits. The Bruins got a spark off the bench from Chalice Pack as she scored seven straight points to cut into the deficit. As the buzzer sounded for the half, the Bruins were down 41-27.

"We are still learning the speed and the physical style of play," Bruins' guard Trisha Irving said. "Each game we get better but it is definitely an adjustment."

As the second half began, the Bruins struggled with allowing the Lions several offensive opportunities. The team also struggled with turning the ball over as they committed 22 turnovers on the night. As play wore on, the Lions continued to extend their lead. Several times throughout the second half, the Bruins would make a run and cut into the lead. Each time they did, the Lions responded with several backdoor cuts for easy layup opportunities. As the final horn sounded, the Bruins lost 75-54.

"Any time you allow a team to shoot more than you do you are going to lose," Coach Mike LeViere said. "They shot the ball 20 times more than we did. I am pleased with how we came out but we just need to put a whole good game together."

The Bruins had a good night shooting the ball as the team shot 50% from the floor. The Lions were able to generate 66 shots while shooting only 40%. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 2-7 on the season. Kendra Jeffcott led the way for the Bruins with 13 points, while Trisha Irving added 11. The next test for the Bruins comes on Tuesday night as the team welcomes Southern Wesleyan University.
