Crusaders Sink Lady Bruins 58-38

Turnovers and poor shooting leads to loss

Box Score
After playing seven games at home, the Lady Bruins hit the road for a game against the Tennessee Temple Crusaders. The Bruins were coming off a thrilling 65-63 win over Pensacola, and Coach LeViere's squad looked to keep up their winning ways against the Crusaders. The team knew they would be in for a tough test as the Crusaders were riding a three game winning streak.

From the opening tip off, the Bruins quickly realized that they were in a new environment and were having difficulty knocking down shots. The team shot 23% throughout the first half, including going 0-11 from three point range. The Crusaders capitalized on the Bruins poor shooting by establishing the tempo and pushing the ball up the court. The Bruins made several attempts to get back into the game, but the Crusaders extended their lead going into the half.

"We let them dictate how the game was going to go," Coach LeViere said. "We allowed them to set the pace and dictate how we were going to play. That and poor shooting is going to not allow you to win many games."

In the 2nd half, the Bruins' shooting woes continued with the team struggling to score. The Bruins committed 19 turnovers in the second half, which allowed the Crusaders to further extend their lead. When the final buzzer sounded, the Bruins found themselves on the losing end of a 58-38 game.

"We got out hustled and outplayed tonight," Coach LeViere said. "We are going to learn from this and get better."

Kendra Jeffcott led the Bruins with 10 points and 9 rebounds, while Trisha Irving added 10 points and 4 rebounds. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 5-11 on the season. The team will have a few days to rest before welcoming in Clearwater Christian College on Friday night.
