The Lady Bruins traveled to Asheville, NC for a game against Warren Wilson College. The two teams were scheduled to play last Friday night before a storm cancelled the game. The Bruins were looking to bounce back after a poor offensive performance against Tennessee Temple in a 58-38 loss. The team knew it would be in for a tough test as the Warren Wilson College Owls were riding a two game winning streak and were 8-6 on the season. Coach Rob Shook's squad has put forth great defensive pressure all season and would look to apply that same pressure against the Bruins.

From the opening tip, the Bruins offensive woes continued as the team struggled to score. Kendra Jeffcott quickly picked up two fouls which limited her playing time throughout the 1st half. "Kendra being saddled with two fouls really hurt us," Coach LeViere said. "Overall we just started out slow." The Owls capitalized on the Bruins start by jumping out to an early lead. As the game wore on, the Bruins generated many open shots, but those shots just refused to fall in for points. At the half, the Bruins were down 40-29.

In the second half, the Owls continued to extend their lead until the Bruins found themselves down by 16 points. After discussing several changes with his players, Coach LeViere sent the squad back out on the court. Then Bre Bullard and the Bruins offense went on a tear and began to chip their way back into the game. Kourtney Hoefler secured 12 rebounds on the night which transitioned into baskets on the other end from Bre Bullard and the Bruins' offense.

With minutes remaining, the Bruins fought their way back into the game and were in position to take the lead. The Bruins forced several turnovers and eventually tied the game with seconds remaining. The team had one more offensive possession. With ten seconds left on the clock, the Bruins got an open look on the offensive end, but the shot rimmed out and was rebounded by the Owls. On the next offensive possession, the Owls worked the clock and drained a shot with 1.7 seconds left on the clock. The Bruins last ditch effort fell just short as the final score handed the Bruins a difficult 60-58 loss.

"I am proud of our effort tonight in fighting back," Coach LeViere said. "Bre Bullard played her best game of the season and played excellent defense on a very good player."

Bre Bullard led all scorers for the Bruins with 14 points, while Kourtney Hoefler added 9 and 12 rebounds. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 5-12 on the season and will welcome in Clearwater Christian College to the Davis Field House on Friday night.
