Box Score
The Bruins women's basketball team traveled to Due West, South Carolina for a game against Erskine College. The Bruins were riding a three-game winning streak with victories over Barber Scotia, Truett-McConnell and Toccoa Falls. The team would be facing a tough road battle against the Erskine College Flying Fleet.
In the opening minutes, it appeared the Bruins had remained in the locker room as the team turned the ball over several times in the opening minutes, and couldn't get anything going offensively. The Flying Fleet ran the floor and shot 48% from the field throughout the first half. After going on a 30-3 run, the Flying Fleet were in control throughout the first half. The Bruins chipped away at the huge deficit as the team settled into their rhythm of play. At the half, the Bruins were down 56-27.
"We just let them dictate who the aggressor was and how the game was going to be played," Coach LeViere said. "I give credit to Erskine though because they played really well. We just didn't play well at all."
In the second half, the Bruins shooting worsened as the team shot a dismal 20% in the second half. The team committed 40 turnovers and the Flying Fleet scored 49 points off of those turnovers. Despite trailing, the team looked to get back into the game but couldn't rally as the final score handed the Bruins their first loss in the last four games 88-48.
With the loss, the Bruins fall to 4-2 on the season. Kendra Jeffcott led the Bruins in scoring with 13 points, while Hannah Tompkins chipped in 11. Chalice Pack led the Bruins in rebounding with 7. Up next, the Bruins will be on the road again as they travel to Columbia International University on Tuesday night.
