As the game began, the Lions used back to back Bruin turnovers to jump out to an early 5-0 lead. The Bruins responded by going on an 8-1 run to get right back into the game behind a Trisha Irving three pointer and a layup by Kendra Jeffcott. The Bruins played good defense in forcing the Lions to take tough shots. Emmanuel College began to run the floor and increase their lead over the Bruins, and BJU struggled to score on the offensive end. The Lions went on a 12-0 run to gain the advantage and take a 34-22 lead into halftime.

"Emmanuel is a very good team," Coach LeViere said. "They do a lot of things right and were able to execute their game plan against us."

In the second half, the Bruins took their halftime adjustments and began to work their way back into the game. The team slowed their offense and worked their offensive sets to claw their way back into the game. Each time the Bruins would bring it under double digits, the Lions would extend the lead back and control the tempo. Brianna Delaney and Kourtney Hoefler grabbed a combined 18 rebounds to help in the post, but in the end the Bruins couldn't overcome the lead as the Lions held on for the 65-52 victory.

"I am happy with the way we played tonight," Coach LeViere said. "Really turnovers were the game for us tonight. We just couldn't take care of the ball. Overall we still hung with a very good team."

Trisha Irving led the Bruins with 15 points while shooting 50% from the floor. Kendra Jeffcott was the only other Bruin in double figures as she had 11. The Bruins committed 20 turnovers on the night while only forcing 4. With the loss, the Bruins have their four game winning streak snapped and fall to 10-4 on the season. Next up, the Bruins will finish out the first semester of play as they host Columbia College on Thursday afternoon.
