Box Score
The Bruins women traveled to Grayson, Kentucky for a match with the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers. The Bruins, Trailblazers and Kentucky Christian University Knights were playing a three game round robin at Kentucky Christian University. All teams will play against each other over the next two days. The Bruins came into Friday's match with a 3-2-1 record, having won their past three matches. The Bruins have held their last three opponents scoreless, while scoring 11 goals in the last three games. OCU came into the match with a 4-4 record but were 3-0 in conference play. The Bruins were hampered before the match as a bug caused many of the team to get sick before the match. Still, the Bruins laced up their cleats to do battle with the Trailblazers in the hot Ohio sun.

In the opening minutes, the Bruins kept up the defensive pressure they have been showing all season and were able to control possession. The team worked their tactical strategy to be able to execute crisp passing along the midfield to set up their offense. The Bruins and Trailblazers exchanged shots and opportunities but neither team was able to find the back of the net. "Our defense really played well for us," Coach Carmichael said. "Their attackers were able to generate some opportunities but our defenders were up to the task to keep us even."

At the midway point of the first half, the Bruins broke the scoreless draw after Tess Hoskinson lofted a beautiful cross into the middle which was sent into the net by Isobel Johnston. The Bruins took a 1-0 lead into intermission. "We've been working hard and creating better combination plays in the attacking third to create more scoring opportunities," Coach Carmichael said. "We are getting better with our positioning and off the ball movements."

In the second half, the Bruins defense was tested, but Tori Anderson made several key saves to keep the clean sheet intact. The Trailblazers went all out to try to even the score. Each time OCU advanced, the Bruins defense would shut them down. The final horn gave the Bruins their fourth straight victory and fourth straight clean sheet.

"It was a very spirited match," Coach Carmichael said. "We have some areas to work on but we have a depth of players that are playing really well collectively."

The Bruins have gone 360 minutes of soccer without allowing the opposition to score. The team will rest for the remainder of the day, and will put their winning streak on the line against Kentucky Christian University tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
