Women's Soccer Team Awarded Sportsmanship Honors

The Bob Jones University women's soccer team has been awarded the 2025 National Intercollegiate Soccer Official's Association (NISOA) Sportsmanship Award from the NCCAA.

The 2025 NCCAA DII National Champions were recognized for their commitment to integrity, respect, and Christlike character on the field.

"I am extremely proud of how our team has conducted themselves over the years and especially this year when we faced a lot of adversity early in the season," said Head Coach Chris Carmichael. "They always reflected the love of Christ, and I greatly appreciate NISOA and the NCCAA for recognizing the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the season. This team consistently displayed Christian character and integrity through the ups and downs."

He continued saying, "I am often asked what makes our program so successful, and this is it! This is where we have the opportunity to put our faith into the game and exemplify what it looks like to be a Christian athlete and Christian team and how we can use sports to teach our student-athletes how to play and serve with purpose. We have always striven to be competitive and to be respectful to the referee and opposing team. We are always grateful for the opportunity to compete, and we know that every team we play, and every referee crew we have, allows us to continue to get stronger in not only our soccer abilities but also how we can use our faith in action. Our 2025 team has been amazing and has consistently shown Christ-like qualities to those around us. I have been abundantly blessed to have had our players in our program, and I can't think of a higher team award that recognizes our major strength and ties into our exceptional team culture we have."

In addition, Chris Carmichael was selected as the winner of this year's Frank Jewell Award. This recognition is given to a coach in the NCCAA whose reputation is recognized by soccer officials as praiseworthy and reflective of the high standards. This character award, presented by the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA), honors the memory of Frank Jewell, who served as NISOA's liaison to the NCCAA from 1983-2010. The winner is chosen by the NCCAA Executive Director in partnership with a NISOA representative.

This is the first year that the women's soccer team and Carmichael have been awarded these character awards.
