After leading his team to the 2025 National Championship, the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) has named Bob Jones University Bruins women's soccer coach, Dr. Chris Carmichael, as the National Coach of the Year for Division II.
Carmichael completed his 14th season with the Bruins soccer program. This year, he helped lead the Bruins to a 9-7-5 record including a perfect record against region opponents.
Following his team winning the 2025 NCCAA South Region Championship, the Bruins traveled to Kissimmee, Florida to compete at nationals. The Bruins entered the tournament as the top seed and opened the tournament in pool play against a Grace Christian University and Trinity College of Jacksonville. The Bruins shutout both the Tigers and Eagles to advance to the national championship game. On November 21, the Bruins faced off against Southwestern Adventist University. BJU scored twice in the contest as the Bruins came out victorious capturing the 2025 NCCAA National Championship title.Â
"Coach Carmichael embodies the kind of leadership that transforms teams," said Assistant Coach Anna Grace Kline. "His commitment to excellence, genuine care for his players, and unwavering belief in our program were the driving forces behind this year's successful season and national championship. Being named National Coach of the Year is a testament to the mentor, leader, and person he is. We are all better for having him lead us."
Also speaking of Carmichael is Graduate Assistant Coach, Mia Marks. "Coach Carmichael led this year's team with creativity and determination. Although the first half of the year proved challenging, he kept a positive mindset. He trusted his process while being open to trying new things and had the girls playing their best when it mattered most. He is a highly respected coach and I am thankful to be learning under him."
This is the third straight year and eighth time in his time at Bob Jones University that Carmichael has been awarded this honor.
