Kendra Jeffcott had 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals
in the 77-47 win over Toccoa Falls College.
"We had a great effort from a lot of different people tonight," Coach Mike LeViere said. "We played really great defense and fed our offense and we were able to use several possessions to work the ball and get what we wanted to get which will be key for us going forward."

The Bruins came into the game after suffering back to back losses at the hands of Bluefield State College and Tennessee Temple University. The team was looking for some measure of revenge as earlier this season the Eagles had defeated the Bruins 56-46 in Georgia. Toccoa Falls College entered the game with a 7-12 record having won 2 of their last 3 games.

The Eagles knocked down back-to-back baskets to jump out to an early lead, but the Bruins came charging back behind the inside play of Kendra Jeffcott as she sliced through the lane scoring 8 of the first 12 points for the Bruins. The team was able to force the Eagles into tough shots on defense, but Toccoa Falls stuck with BJU neck and neck in the opening minutes and eventually tied the game at 15-15. From there, the Bruins rode the red-hot shooting of Maggi Ford as she scored 16 1st half points to fuel a 25-4 run for the Bruins as they closed out the half with a comfortable 40-19 lead.

"Tonight my team came behind me," Maggi Ford said. "We were running the floor and making transition buckets. We just kept running and running and tiring them out."

In the second half, the Bruins didn't let up as the team continued to score at will against the Eagles. The defense was suffocating in forcing turnovers which translated into 32 points for the team. The Bruins led by as much as 40 in the game as they continued to dominate in all phases of the game. When the dust settled, the Bruins walked away with a decisive 77-47 victory.

"It's nice to be on the right track and we just need to keep moving forward," Coach LeViere said. "We were able to put people in the game tonight and not have a change in the execution or effort. It was a great team win."

Maggi Ford led all scorers with 19 points as she was one of four Bruins players who scored in double-figures. Kendra Jeffcott had an excellent night for the team with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals. The team was able to force 24 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 40-22. The Lady Bruins now stand at 9-12 on the season and will welcome Johnson and Wales University on Tuesday night.
