Box Score Maggi Ford followed her historic performance on Tuesday night with another solid outing as she and Kendra Jeffcott combing to score nearly 50% of the Lady Bruins points in a 69-52 win over Warren Wilson College on Friday night.

in the 69-52 win over Warren Wilson College "We're playing better the further we go into the season," Coach Mike LeViere said. "The players have jelled and we have great chemistry. These girls have fun playing the game and we just need to keep moving that in the right direction."
The Bruins came into Friday's game off of back to back wins over Toccoa Falls College and Johnson and Wales University. The team was looking to climb over the .500 hump for the first time this season. The Owls entered the game at 11-10 and were coming off a tough loss to Tennessee Temple University on Tuesday night. The Bruin faithful were in full voice as the two teams took the court in the Davis Field House.
Maggi Ford put the Bruins in the scoring column with a baseline three pointer, but the Owls with an 8-0 run to jump out to the early lead. The Bruins responded by working the ball inside and generating good ball movement for open shots. That translated into the team shooting 51% from the field throughout the first half. The team fought hard on the glass as well and rode the great effort of Julia Wright's 6 first half rebounds to begin to extend their lead. Maggi Ford scored 11 of her 15 points for the game in the first half as the Bruins went into the locker room up 36-20.
"We knew rebounding was going to be big going into this game," Bruins guard Julia Wright said. "We got into a little grove and even though we played a little sloppy we had our strong points which helped us."
In the second half, the Owls rode the impressive shooting of Keila McCurry who was 3-5 from behind the arc in the half to begin to chip away at the Bruins lead. The Owls were able to cut it to 51-43 behind a McCurry 3-pointer, but the Bruins responded with a 14-4 run to take control of the game. From there, the team never let up as the Bruins finished off the Owls 69-52.
"We did what we needed to do tonight to win," Coach LeViere said. "We have a great group of young ladies and we have a quick turnaround time for tomorrow's game so we'll enjoy this win and focus our attention on our opponents tomorrow."
Kendra Jeffcott chipped in 15 points and had 8 rebounds on the night while Maggi Ford also scored 15. The Bruins shot an impressive 14-18 from the free-throw line in the 2nd half to help secure the win. The Bruins are now 12-11 on the season, having won three straight games. Next up, the Bruins will welcome rival Clearwater Christian College at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
